MYOS Corp Appoints Dr. Sherman O. Canapp Jr., DVM, MS, CCRT, DACVS, DACVSMR to Veterinary Advisory Board

CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J. — MYOS Corp, a science-driven company focused on advancing muscle health through innovative nutrition, today announced the appointment of Dr. Sherman O. Canapp Jr., DVM, MS, CCRT, DACVS, DACVSMR to its Veterinary Advisory Board. Dr. Canapp brings decades of leadership in veterinary orthopedics, sports medicine, rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, and minimally invasive surgery, further strengthening MYOS’ commitment to science-backed innovation in companion animal health.

Dr. Canapp is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers in canine sports medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, a Charter Diplomate and Past President of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and co-founded one of the first U.S. specialty hospitals dedicated to veterinary orthopedics and sports medicine. Throughout his career, he has published extensively, lectured worldwide, and helped advance the standards of care for active, aging, and recovering canine patients.

A Veterinary Advisory Board plays a critical role in ensuring that emerging animal health companies remain aligned with the evolving needs of clinicians, patients, and pet owners. By bringing together respected specialists from across veterinary medicine, MYOS continues to deepen its clinical perspective, guide future research initiatives, support product development, and strengthen educational outreach to veterinary professionals.

"Across canine athletes, working dogs, and patients recovering from orthopedic and soft tissue injuries, preserving muscle mass is one of the most reliable factors in a strong long-term outcome. MYOS Canine Muscle Formula has been part of my clinical protocols for more than six years, and that hands-on experience is what makes joining the Veterinary Advisory Board meaningful to me. I'm glad to support a company whose priorities align with my own — helping dogs maintain function, performance, and quality of life through recovery and into healthy aging."

Joseph Mannello, Chief Executive Officer of MYOS Corp., added, “Dr. Canapp is one of the most respected names in veterinary orthopedics and sports medicine. His clinical expertise and years of experience using MYOS Canine Muscle Formula make him an exceptional addition to our Veterinary Advisory Board. We are honored to welcome him and look forward to his guidance as we continue to expand the role of muscle health in veterinary medicine.”

With the addition of Dr. Canapp, MYOS Corp. further reinforces its mission of helping veterinarians address one of the most underrecognized components of pet health—skeletal muscle. The company remains committed to investing in research, clinical education, and innovative nutritional solutions designed to help dogs maintain strength, mobility, recovery, and overall quality of life.
